Thank you for your interest in Little Learners Preschool. I couldn’t be more excited about being a part of your child’s day and early childhood learning place. My philosophy is simple. To provide a high quality, safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment that provides a lifelong love for learning. Your little one will develop at their own pace through a variety of activities designed for their intellectual, physical, emotional and social growth. I will provide your child with access to a variety of engaging activities that encourage independence and enhance growth and development. I am dedicated to building positive, lasting relationships with the children and families of our community.
Explore
We will balance academic activities that support cognitive development with free play opportunities that encourage children to play through their imagination and build strong social emotional skills. Art activities allow children to create with a variety of materials as they express themselves. We will create many art projects related to themes, seasons, holidays and their individual interests. Music is a major part of everything we do. Singing, fingerplays and dance are a part of everyday! We learn that learning is fun and the possibilities are endless!
Learn
Phonics: We will learn to recognize letters and learn their phonetic sounds. We will also learn to write letters.
Language: Before a child learns to read they build their oral skills. They increase their vocabulary and ability to comprehend and express themselves. We will do this through group activities such as nursery rhymes, singing, stories and much more. We will also practice numbers 1-20, counting & pre math skills, basic shapes, colors, imaginative and cooperative play, fine and gross motor skills and social and independence skills. We also have a well furnished array of materials and toys organized into a variety of centers, promoting independent exploration and discovery throughout the school. Materials and toys are rotated to ensure new discoveries. Class themes are also rotated. We have centers and choices, free-play time, group circle time, snack time and outdoor time. We are building independence, decision making skills, creativity, problem-solving and academic skills at Little Learners.
Play
Children playing unlocks their creativity and imagination. It also develops reading, thinking, and problem solving skills as well as further develops motor skills. Free play is unstructured, voluntary, child initiated activities that allow a child to develop their imagination while exploring and experiencing the world around them. Play provides the base foundation of learning.
